Lüdi Gardens is a Wollongong native garden studio led by Dayne Corbishley, a qualified horticulturist. Our team designs, builds and cares for residential and commercial gardens across the Illawarra, with a focus on Australian native plantings that suit the soils, climate and seasonal rhythm of the local landscape.

The studio was founded on a single conviction: a garden in this region should be designed for this region. Mass-market plant palettes, imported aesthetics and one-size-fits-all maintenance schedules rarely sit well between escarpment clay and coastal salt. We work close to home so we can know the conditions in detail and build gardens that genuinely belong.

Every project is led personally by Dayne, from the first site visit through design, planting and the long establishment period that follows. Our team is small by choice. It lets us pay attention to the work, learn each garden, and stay involved long after installation.

We work across Sydney and the Illawarra.

How we work

Designed for the conditions, not against them.

The Illawarra is not one place. Heavy clay sits at the foot of the escarpment; coarse sand and salt air shape the coastal suburbs; the middle ground is its own quiet puzzle. Our work begins by reading the site (soil, aspect, wind, drainage, the trees already growing nearby) and matching the planting to what the conditions will support over the long term.

Every garden we make is built for one place and one person: your block, your soil, the way you actually want to live in it. We'd rather create something that feels unique than hand you a version of the garden down the street. And when a project needs more than design and planting, we work closely with landscapers we know and trust, so the whole space comes together as one considered piece, not a patchwork.

We stay through establishment, not just installation. A new garden needs hands-on care to help it establish, encouraging the roots to take hold and the plants to find their rhythm. The first year is when a garden is really made, so our team returns on a scheduled cadence to see yours through it. Not just kept alive, but set up to thrive on its own.
